Which .22LR rifle?

Going for the lower end of the budget scale, I have two choices locally that have turned up:

A CZ 513 Farmer or a Winchester Wildcat.

Both are new, both are bolt, both are decent brands and both are about the same price, give or take say €20.

Which would you recommend I choose and why?

Beyond those two, the closest price-wise are the CZ 452-2E ZKM LUX, and the Ruger 10/22, although the Ruger is a Semi and I'd prefer bolt. Both these are about 20% more that the Farmer and Wildcat.

NB: country of origin is not a factor for me, so let's keep this to issues such as accuracy, reliability, finish, even resale...

Thanks

Of those first two,I'd definitely go for the CZ.Even throwing in the 10/22 I'd go for the CZ.I guess Savage isn't an option?

Actually, Savage are: but it is a semi and I I certainly don't know the price: I'd have to look. The same shop have a semi Remington, too...

But I have blown a heck of a lot of cash on guns since getting my licence, and I really need to consider other little factors like...oooh, I dunno... home, family, marriage... that type of stuff...:p

In other words, if the Savage is .22 but too expensive, then no-siree!!;)

Savage makes a bolt action .22, it's called the Mark II. You could probably get a basic model for around $200

I just found the CZ 455 LUX (replacement rifle for the 452 series :( ) at a "deal" here in the states. I went with it because I wanted open sites included and I liked the "upgrade" of the CZ style and craftsmanship, fit and finish. I looked at the Savage (bolt gun) and they are a very good gun at a great price point (accurate as a laser and nice trigger). Most of the others (Remington, Marlin, Henry) didn't trip my trigger. YMMV.

I must admit I know nothing of the Winchester, but I did compare the CZ to my Browning A-Bolt 22, Kimber Model 82 Bolt Action 22 and my Browning A-22 semi auto rifles and I think the CZ will fit in with that crowd nicely.

Let us know if you get one. Remember it never happened if you don't post pictures.

Both made in Europe. The Wildcat has been discontinued in the US. I thought it was discontinued everywhere. It didn't sell so well.

I'd choose the CZ. I prefer a slightly higher grade than the 513, but it is a very good 22 rifle.

No.

Savage most definitely makes a bolt action, a fairly nice one at that. The Mark II.

just FYi, the Buzzcock smart idea is thre best idea, Savage bolt action.

I have a Mark II GXP combo package from Dick's Sporting Goods. $199.99 regular price, I asked for the sale price and got it, $149.99... and it is awesome, a bolt action .22LR with beautiful *yet entry level* wooden stock, it came with an AWESOME for price Bushnell rimfire "sharpshooter" scope, 3-9x40mm.... it was awesome and it would still be on there but a friend dropped it and broke it. Now the Savage wears a Nikon ProStaff 4-12x40mm BDC Reticle and its amaziong.

I cannot say enough about this and it makes me a hige fan of Savage so uch o.
