which 1911A1 part(2)

My brother-in-law has a Stainless "Loaded" and it works great. Even if you would happen to get one with a problem Springfield has a very good reputation for customer service....

Bullet, I bought a new Springfield loaded model last month. Put 100 rounds through it and it ran flawlessly. The fit and finish were excellent. The trigger was not very good. Take up, creep then a slight hitch before breaking. Called SA customer service. They said they were surprised that it slipped through QC. They said to send it in and that they would clean up the trigger, have it back to me within 30 days and reimburse my shipping. They rec'd it Feb 16. I called them yesterday and they said I should have it by mid-late next week.

In conclusion, I think it is a fantastic gun for the price (even though mine had a subpar trigger). If the customer service turns out to be as good as they say it is going to be, I don't think you can go wrong with a SA loaded model. Good luck and let us know.

I haven't fired a Springfield since before they came out with their "loaded" models. Everyone that I've had experience with has been a shooter though. That being said I can offer some visual impressions.

At a recent gun show I handled several SA loadeds. Comparing the SA to my Kimber I found several things to like about both. I do find the Kimber to be the more refined pistol. The machining is a bit more precise (not so many sharp edges either) and none of the SAs had a trigger pull that approached my Kimber.

The Kimber comes with a one piece guide rod which I prefer (I'm still undecided if they're really neccessary though). All of the SAs had two piece rods. You have to watch those, they can loosen up under use. The Kimber has a one piece barrel, the SA has a two piece. Some take issue with that but I've never had a problem with it.

The SA comes standard with Novak sites. The Mcormick sites on the Kimber are fine but I do prefer the Novaks. The SAs come with nice Cocobolo grips, the Kimbers don't. You have to pay extra for walnut or rosewood grips from Kimber and they aren't that nice. I just plunked down 40 bucks and change on some Cocobolos from Hogue.

Overall I found all of the SAs I examined to be well finished and well put together. Before I bought my Kimber if you had lain a Kimber and an SA in front of me I would have had a hard time deciding. I may just have to buy one of those too !
