whether or not to upgrade.

I'd like everyone opinion on if I should upgrade one of my rifles. I have a savage model 12, 22-250 with the heavy barrel, I bought the gun for varmint hunting and it shoots fantastic but it's super heavy to carry around. I've since bought a .204 ruger that I mainly use now. I've been considering buying a McMillan stock for the savage and also having it suppressed and making a really kick ass coyote gun for longer ranges and even a nice target gun also. I guess my question is, is the gun worth spending the money on?

If it were me, I think I would sell the gun, take the money along with the money it would cost to upgrade it and buy a really nice gun suitable for what you want to do with it.

Thanks I've thought about that also. I've considered having one made also. Any comments on that plan of action too.

Hmm, I think I would go the other way. Savage is a great platform, easy to upgrade and parts easy to get. I think you'd be far better off financially if you just upgraded the stock and had the barrel suppressed rather than buying a new rifle. Plus, you said it shoots good so you know what you're starting with.

Despite owning quite a few rifles, I gravitate towards using the ones that I shoot well and am familiar with. I'd be reluctant to change anything that works well. For varmint hunting, I'd focus more on fine tuning loads, etc.

I would put a suppreser a stock even more important than a stock cause you can just bed the stock is a 2 pound trigger one piece rail to firm up the action everything helps solid rings and scope which firm up the action too bed the new stock be sure to push the scope ahead when installing and the rifle back in the stock when tightening rear bi pod to keep the new stock off the ground !!! If there is no mag well on her I'd install one be sure to epoxy well to stock and check all sides of mag for clearance well besides truing the action I think your about done and you my friend have one very attractive gun!!!
