Where's cheap surplus ammo in Iowa?

At the last gun show at the State Fairground I encountered sellers with great deals in surplus US .45 ball, Turkish Mauser and M2 ball. Unfortunately, my new AO, M1911A1 GI cleaned me out fot the moment.

Now I want to find these guys. They must be "kitchen table" dealers since I didn't recognize store names.

The .45 was 1973 Lake City. probably pretty good and likely what I was once issued. Turk is a bit flaky, but good for plinking. I've seen antique shows in which M2 is sold for inflated prices, likely to pretty unknowlegeable collectors.

Where do I get cheap surplus ammo here in Central Iowa?

Since the Newtown school shooting and subsequent push for new gun laws, there has been a huge run on both firearms and ammunition, which has caused a dramatic spike in prices and has wiped out supplies.

Simply put, in the current environment, there is no cheap surplus ammo anymore, especially not for US military firearms.

Ammo In Iowa

I have had some luck using the GUNBOT website. It will let you know who has what and where it is. Good Luck!

Friend of mine lives in Iowa (Cedar Rapids).

He and his wife are going through the process to get their CCWs, and have been leaning on me for information on various guns, ammunition, etc.

They went to a couple of stores looking for guns, and didn't find much.

As I told him last night, "You guys have TERRIBLE timing..."

Call Daryl Klein at Tradeshow Productions, he runs the DSM Fairgrounds show.....could probably tell you who the dealer was and how to make contact.
