Where to shoot in houston?

Hello,

First of all great forum.

I have been reading here for about 3 hours now soaking up the knowledge. I do not yet own a shotgun but I plan on buying one by Feb. for HD and target shooting. Untill then I am just reading and learing as much as I can about shotguns and shotgunning.

I plan on buying a 870 Marine Magnum and a a Sentry Long Gun "Safe". The Safe will be next to my bed and will remain open through the night and when I am home alone. Before I leave I will simply close it. Thats the plan anyways, if anyone sees any flaws in this your input will be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone wants to mention where they keep their HD shotgun at night I would be interested in hearing that as well.

Finally what I am most interested in knowing is where can I go to shoot if I live in Houston and want to fire a couple hundred rounds over the course of a day or so? Any ranges that let you use a shotgun?

Thanks for any advice.

I keep my 20 gauge HD shotgun out leaning on a wall ( until I pick up a wall rack), and my wife, in our home office in the basement, has a .38 ready to go when I'm away.

When the home is left unattended, other than our 4 lab retreivers, the guns go in the safe, or go with us.

For me, I recommend do what you are comfortable with and above all know what guns you have, and where. Best regards.

shooting in Houston

I'm not a member yet,,,, but call Pearland shooting club. It's off FM 528, (which is NASA Parkway, west of I45) and see about being a guest. I go there with a friend once in a while and there is a spot for shooting everything from air-guns to 300 yard rifle competition.
