Have two M70 that I want to bed with "Bisonite".

But not sure where to rout for bedding and how thick to use.

Thanks.

There should be some Youtube instructions for Model 70's and Bisonite.
I wouldn't remove more than 1/16th anywhere.

I mostly just make sure to remove any finish and rough up the contact surfaces

Nice write-up. I like the idea of the O-rings around the barrel (been using tape wrapped around the barrel). Didn't know about lighter fluid as a clean-up solvent- need to try that as well.

Tango Yankee, gents!

My first M70 was done by a shop in the 70's.

Now I know enough to get dangerous! I did make a new 3P stock for my Annie, and incorporated aluminum pillars to give good compression against and modified the front pillar to have a lip that replaced the lump of bedding in the original prone stock.

Also, bedded the barrel seperately and as the compound set, turned the barrel/stock up-side down, allowing the barrel hang allowing the bedding to flow and harden. When in use the barrel has to flex over that "riser" and seems to give consistent grouping.

jrothWA, did you bed the barrel full length in the stock's fore end from receiver to front tip of the stock?

I've never heard of your "upside down" method; very interesting.
