I am looking into taking a pistol class designed around everyday carry. I would like to learn different shooting platforms and stances and more of a (tacticle approch to shooting)ie. how to draw your weapon fast, shoot while moving, multi target defence etc,etc...I live in Dallas Tx. I already have a CHL.

I like Mas Ayoob and Louie Awerbuck for the type of classes you are interested in. Both do traveling road shows and both are instructors of the First Water.

What technique of shooting we should learn? For competition in IPSC or for street shooting.

I've been viewing several DVD's where it teaches how to shoot, and also dvd's that contain the different matches around the world, but for me, to make the person proficient in shooting is to have a constant practice on the range and guided with the several techniques of handling/shooting a pistol or a rifle. I have seen also that shooting target papers and poppers are different than shooting a moving person or in actual scenario where we are exchanging shots to the BG's.

Shooting those stationary objects on the range is very much different when you actually in a shootout situation.

I dont know anything about them but google had it as the number #2 on the search.

From the internet::
North Texas Shooting Academy (Self Defense and Concealed Carry). DALLAS area.

When learning how to shoot, good instructions are a major shortcut. However, it is much like learning to play tennis, the instructions are just the beginning.

Learning how to shoot is a process, it takes lots of practice and analysis of one's shooting - and shortcomings.

Competitions like IDPA are a good help to become a better allround shooter.

I feel for these "city" boys having to pay and all the formality just to go out and shoot a darn gun. I was raised in the metroplex, so I know what you are going through.:(

thefiringline.org has had a couple of threads on TX resources. Search there.

Steve Moses is a good guy as Dave said. If you want to drive down to Austin region - krtraining.com and Yager's tactical response.

Farnam comes to TX as does Insights, Givens, Jeff Gonzales, Rob Pincus - ICE group.

Lots of training in TX.
