Where to get Garand to 308 barrel conversion??

I have an M1A (Betty) which I love. But she's REAL expensive. So I was thinking about getting a M1-Garand, and getting a 308 barrel conversion.

I had 3 questions:

1) Where do you guys recommend someone to do my barrel conversion? How much is it going to cost (barrel + labor)?

2) How accurate is it? My M1A is a tack driver!!
3) How reliable is it? I assume the 308's fit in the 30-06 clips no problem.

I talked to them via email when they were local, they recently moved.

I was about smitten with Garands when a FAL fell into my lap.

FWIW, I shopped around, these guys seem competitive and competent.

No knock against Fulton, they were responsive to my questions, too, and do very good work, but I hear they are very slow, no doubt due to the demand generated by their excellent work.

They do a TRUCKLOAD business in re-barreling Garands, either in original 30-06 or to .308.

All barrels are Douglas Premium Grade.

You have a choice of 4 or 6 groove rifling in either caliber, all are 1-10 twist.

You send them your action & barrel, bolt & oprod. They install & headspace and return with your old barrel.

Price....... $195.00

Had a couple friends here in our local highpower club do this. They are happy.

Quick too..... usually only a couple weeks.

You can also go to Springfield Armory. They did one of mine a few years back with glass bedding, match sights and reworked trigger. Came out very nice and accurate,

They do everything from technical inspections on your new acquisitions to building national match rifles in both .30-06 and .308. They have been to our local gunshows and produce some great rifles.
