Besides gunbroker, Buds Guns, Cabellas, CDN, where are some places online to buy guns? I am gun shy of guns America because of some horror stories I have heard of people getting taken.
I bought a box of Ranger T 124gr +P 9mm JHP from TN's Glibert's Guns. They list many good firearm deals. I considered buying a new in box S&W Military-Police pistol(with ambi safety) last year. The website listed a great surplus NYPD SIG P226(DA-only) pistol for $580.00.
I'd call Gilbert's office 1st since they had major floods in the area.
JGSales.com has many good deals. They are in AZ if you have an issue with it, . I get the paper catalog.
I've purchased 2 handguns from www.gunsamerica.com with 0 problems or issues. The first Ruger GPNY .38spl(2006) was from a gent in rural AL who didn't have a fax or cell phone. He was a "straight-shooter" who worked with me. I used a money order and we did the FFL transfer w/o any hassles.
I have bought a number of guns online over the past years, mostly used through Gunbroker or Auctionarms. I have bought some new ones from www.sportingarms.com. Tom and Becky Harris run the business are have good prices and service. I also buy quite a bit off www.onpointfirearms.com. The prices and services are excellent but they have a setup that you have to buy into their system for $5 to get the VIP prices. I will also second the recommendation on www.summitgunbroker.com. Great prices and service. Good luck.
It would also help to let us know what you're looking for. Also, I believe most major manufacturers will have a link on their websites to look up dealers that are local to you.
I've had my best luck by buying at specialty forums from individuals with high post counts who post regularly. People generally don't [you know what] where they live.
( why would you ever mail a cashiers check to someone you don't know / that has no brick and mortar store ...) and I don't care if its $500 or $5,000 ...and then just hope you're going to get a gun(and what are you going to do, if it doesn't ever show up ??) ...let alone if its not in the condition you thought it was !!
Taking a chance like that - can't be worth the potential savings ...??
I'm a little late to this party but I felt the need to give some positive feedback regarding this subject.
I generally try to buy locally if I can and I usually do if it's a used piece off a consigment rack or accessories. However, having said that I have bought at least 5 new guns in the last 2 years or so from The Exchange in Brooking, SD. Their link is www.onlinegundeals.com. They do list in GunsAmerica but will sell directly from their website. Yes, their storefront is a pawnshop.
I usually send an e-mail requesting a quote for the particular piece I want and Jamie sends an e-mail back within a day letting me know if they can get it or not. I then send a money order and my FFL (I'm in Kalifornya) receives the piece within a day of confimation of funds. Smooth as glass everytime so far.
I avoid buying or going into most of the local shops in my metro area.
The sales clerks/staff & mgmt seem either openly hostile, inept, misinformed or lack customer service skills.
Most of the firearm prices are way, way over-priced too.
Don't get me started on the local stores & factory handgun ammunition!
I just find a good deal online, set up the FFL deal and make it happen Captain, .
