Hello Again Fella's,

I want to order 2 CZ82 for concealed carry for me and the wife. I want them to be in good shape. I see that J&G has them but they have new american made barrels, I don't want that I want the original polygonal type barrel on them. Any advice here would be greatly appreciated

Why do you not want the original polygonal-rifled barrel?

They are known to be extremely accurate.
Just got mine to the range for the first time yesterday. Very impressed with the lack of felt recoil, and the accuracy.

I will admit though- I couldn't figure out why the gun was shooting so low...until I realized that the two white dots on the rear sight were competely worn out and gone, and that would have been the proper point of alignment with the front sight. Gotta fix that with a couple dabs of white paint or something...

I got mine from J&G. Finish was pretty worn (holster wear) even though I paid the "hand pick" fee...and came with one mag.

I haven't seen them, but Wideners has them for $199 with two mags- and free shipping. Works out to a pretty significant price difference. I would have bought from them had I known before I placed the order with J&G.

No I DO want the polygonal barrel, I just saw that the ones J&G sells have new american made barrels and I'm not sure that they still have the polygonal rifling in these new barrels. Thanks for all the replies. I'm gonna place an order for them tomorrow.

And I'm STILL asking: What's the deal with the American made barrels?

The CZ82 is chambered for the 9x18 Makarov cartridge. I think the ones that are rebarreled are converted, but I don't recall if it's to .380 Auto or to 9mm Luger. Probably to .380, since the pistols are blowback operated. If I'm correct, the replacement barrels effectively make them into CZ83s.

Their advert clearly states that they are CZ 82s with new barrels and they are in 9x18 calibre. They also cost more than the guns with polygonal rifling barrels. I think a better guess would be that the others were shot out, but this is the first I have heard about 82s with new bbls.

Also, the supposition that these are converted to 9mm Luger is ridiculous. There are only a handful of pistols I can think of that are blowback 9mm Lugers, and those are the Astra 600/800, the Walther Model 6, the Tarn and the various "pot metal wonders" with the 37 pound slides.
