I cannot find this rifle anywhere and nobody
can or will not order it for me. I heard it retailed for about $675,saw one at a show for $800 but I thought that was to high at a show. Can anyone tell me waht they go for and where I would be able to get one, and I also know that they are trying to limit the sales of these too..............

Remington PSS,... are not going to be sold to civilians anymore by Remington (i think they are trying to be PC). I think they are limiting sales to LE only. That's the reason why you saw it at the gunshow for $800. I know i still noticed some gun stores here in So. Cal. have in .300 WinMag. calibers. I was lucky enough to get it in both .223 and .308 :) . I have the 26" barrel with hinged floorplate. Someone said that they already stop selling the detachable mag. model. I pick up mine for $720 (.223) and $730 (.308).

So, better try to hurry up with your search, the supply will dry out. And good luck...

Hoplite as of last week: 700 P, $699 in stock; 502-955-5014.

Try Crippen in Mich (I think), also.

Check Gunsamerica.

The rumor about not being able to get 700P's is just that a rumor. Remington sells them to their law enforcement distibutors which in turn, like Hoplite, can sell them to whoever they want. There is nothing from Remington saying these distibutors can't sell to you and me but some don't because they want to sell only to LE, not because they were told to. Hoplite is probably the best place as far as price and they usually have a bunch in stock. They have ads in Shotgun News. ALso the reason for the detachable mag not being available is beacause Remington stoped producing them because they were crap. They had so many complaints they just stopped. It's a crapshoot with them, some work fine some don't. You might want to check out the 700VS(.223 & .308) or Sendaro (.300WM) depending on what caliber you are looking for because they are the same barreled actions as the P models but don't have the P stock or the "parkerized" finish but they are also about $100 cheaper. Good luck.

I certainly agree with Rob01 concerning the VS as to the PSS. I have owned a VS in 308 for nearly a decade, and have never had cause to regret it given the limitations of the weight and balance of the weapon-its not my first choice when I'm walking! Its easy enough to add another front sling swivel to the VS if it makes any difference to you, and the metal is sufficiently dull to keep the reflections to a minimum.
