Where to buy a factory new XD mod2

Hi guys, quick question:

Is there a specific place I should look to buy a new XD mod 2? I've been price shopping a little but am not sure if a place like Cabelas, bass pro shop, or a gun store would be the best place to buy from. Would they all supply the same factory new pistol? It's our first gun so I have no experience.

1st. Contact your local gun shops and pawn shops and ask what their transfer fee costs. Shoot for between 20-30 bucks.

2nd find online vendor with best price. I bought my mod 2 .45 bi tone from budsginshop. I think for like 548 shipped.

3rd have your selected transferring shop send buds their FFL (federal firearms license) if it's not already on file.

4th buy from online vendor over phone or net. Indicate dealer they will ship to

5th once dealer receives gun go to local dealer, fill out 4473 form, get background check run, pay your xfer fee and take delivery of new gun.

Barring any strange state laws you have this is the cheapest no muss no fuss method.

I notice you are in Washington. State. When you say "our" new gun be aware there have been recent laws in your state that mean you must have a background check ANYTIME the gun changes hands unless at a range. I am not totally familiar with them but take this to mean you need to do your legal research as far as this and having a firearm that is shared among family members for use etc

Please do you research. I don't want to see a new gun owner get bit in the butt by a fairly bad law as written.

Gunbroker.com seems to be an eBay-like site. Have people had good experiences with them?
GB is exactly like eBay in that there are many sellers, some corporate and some private. Thus you can have a good experience or bad depending on the seller. Just be careful, know what it's worth, and remember to add in shipping and the FFL fee to the cost so you can compare.

You say this is your first gun? I would not recommend buying online for your first gun. In fact, I would not recommend buying any gun until you can try some out and find out what you really need and can handle. Find an indoor range that rents guns and try some. Some offer training classes where you can try several. I've heard good things about XD pistols, but .45 is not your typical first gun. I'm not saying it can't be, but there might be better choices. When you say "our" how will you know it "fits" both you and your significant other(s) until you try?

Hi Slimjim9,

I've already rented, tested, shopped around, etc. I'm not new to firearms, have taken a safety class (6years ago) and have been shooting other people's guns since. Just never owned one myself till now (well, soon).

I'm looking at 9mm, also, not .45.

At this point I'm just trying to get a gauge on how I can get the best deal on a new one.

Thanks!

Lee

I've had good online gun purchase experiences with Davidson's Gun Genie, Impact Guns, and Able Ammo. A quick search on my end shows that Impact appears to have a good price on the one you're looking at.

Paid $507.00 out the door which included a 10% store wide special. If you bought more than 1, the second gun got 20% discount. New or used.

Is in effect until July 7 I believe and they sell online. But don't know what they charge to send it to your FFL. The xd mod 2 is not shown in the website so you will have to call them and buy it that way.

Well, I went ahead and purchased one off of gunbroker.com. $418 plus $29 shipping, plus WA tax is 9.5% I believe, and I have a FFL who will charge $25. Total if my math is correct is $514.47. All the dealers near here are selling for $569, $554.99, there's one for $519 plus tax, so looks like I saved near $50. Lookin forwards to picking it up!
