I've been thinking (always a dangerous idea, I know) about where all of the recent mass shootings have happened recently: Columbine, the McDonald's in Pittsburg, the DC Zoo. They're all "family locations." They're all places where moms and dads would take their kids.
I can't remember a mass shooting at a romantic Italian restaurant, PTA meeting, a neighborhood bar, a gun shop, somebody's house on New Year's Eve. It's always a kid-centric location.
I realize that I'm probably being short-sighted, and I'd appreciate someone pointing out where I'm obviously wrong, but this does seem to be a trend. I know that there are individual killings at strip joints, and bars where kids aren't, but these are crimes of passion, and commited frequently without guns. It's the mass shootings that I'm thinking of.
If I'm right, then why? Easy targets is the only idea that makes sense to me so far.
