Where do you draw the lines?

I have read all over the place people talking a second US CIVIL WAR.
(Mostly from those who have not been in any sort of engagement but like the idea of a chance to get into one.)
Looking at the political maps and looking at the numbers associated... Where do you draw the lines?
Your talking fighting brother against brother in your own towns. The nation is divided politically Dem-Reps pretty much across the board. Granted in some areas you have strong majority... but spread across the national map?

Where would you draw the lines?

I draw the lines across the threshhold of my house. Or my driver side window, alongside some road. That's likely where they'll say. "sir, we're gonna need you to turn over your weapon. You wont be getting it back sir." And brother against brother? No brother, or friend of mine would try to take my gun, or vote/elect someone who would. My friends know about freedom and our rights. So I draw the line at the first person to try and take em, and ever person after that.

Actually your term of civil war would be the First Civil War in modern day scenarios. What is referred to innaccurately as the civil war was a war of seceesion, not a civil war. The Southern states wanted separation, not to take over the Northern ones. Civil war is where one side is trying to take over the other.
That being said, I do not think it would be a War of Secession. I think it would be a war of restoration. Restoration of liberty, property, justice, and the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. I do not think there would be lines to be drawn, as it would be a battle over who would control the Government, and if that Government would submit to the Articles of the Constitution.

They crossed my line yesterday in MO.

Due to ballot fraud once again in St. Louis County we (the nation) got a liberal US senator and we Missouians got a liberal governor. This was not done by a legal vote of the people. It was done with illegal trickery in SLC the same way our CCW rights were denied because of ballot fraud there as well.
For that reason I have vowed that I will not obey or abide by any law that either of these people are instrumental in passing on the state or national level. With the US senate as close as it is now every vote counts and Jean Carnahan may well be the deciding factor.

They crossed me line when they did not follow the rules.

It's far too early (or maybe far too late) for a second American Civil War (or war of secession, if you like). Any insurrection would be doomed to failure because it wouldn't have popular support. Too damn many people are comfortable with the shape of things, fools that they are.

The sad fact of the matter is that those of us who know what real freedom means and why it is so important will NEVER see a truly free America in our lifetimes. The chance for that to occur happened about 140 years ago, and freedom lost. (And for of you who believe that the American Civil War was about slavery, I suggest you widen the depth and breadth of your reading/education.)

I guess I'll have to agree with BadMedicine on exactly where I'd draw the line. That is the corner into which, if pushed, I'll fight back with appropriate force.

Reading "Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal," by Ayn Rand, should be required of every politician and in every high school.

"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined."

George, I don't think all of those graphics we saw last night are visually accurate in what they could convey.

Most of the so-called Democratic states are just cities (where fraud is most convenient). I would like to see a county representation across the nation. I suspect we would see a field of red (Bush) with tiny blue dots representing urban Demo concentrations. States like Missouri would seem much friendlier.

Maybe that is why we will never see it.

I suspect that G-Freeman is on to something there.
You just don't find a lot of liberals living outside the urban centers.
There are lots of reasons for this that I won't bother to go into, we all know what most of those reasons are, but as to the original question, "Where do you draw the line?"
I draw the line on the day that Government makes me a Criminal by act of legislation.
It's conceivable that I could possibly make myself a criminal by my own actions, and if so, I would be subject to whatever punishment the courts decreed.
However, if through no act of my own, other than posession of previously owned Firearmes, Ammunition, or accessories, I become a criminal, then I will endeavor to be the best criminal I can possibly be.
In other words, I'll fight.
Do I WANT this to happen?
If I did, I would have voted for Gore yesterday instead of standing outside in frigid rain waving a sign for Bush/Cheney and casting my vote for those two gentlemen.
I want very much to live a peaceful life, smoke a cigar on my back porch and sip a little bourbon, and maybe (in season) take a pot shot at the errant rabbit that foolishly dares show himself in my back yard.
Doesn't seem like much to ask, but the Liberal Democrats would like to take all those small joys from me along with the freedoms I was born with.
The freedoms incidentally, that I will die with. One way or the other.
The worst you can do to a Free Man is kill him. All others can be enslaved.

OK, using that logic, the south was having a "succession war, and the North was fighting a "civil war." The south had succeeded(sp) and the north was trying to "take over" in order to have one large country again. Depends on your views. My family lived in the south during the civil war. I think of my self as a yank though, because the country never would have survived had it been allowed to break up. We may have turned out just like the soviet union. A bunch of little countries that are "independant" even though they're 3rd world countries that have to stand in bread lines, and the government is the MOB. I'm not saying the mob doesn't have ties to our government, but they aren't synonymous like in the USSR. Boy did I get off topic :)

Judging from this map, would it be called the second war of northern aggression, or the war of coastal aggression?

never mind. Some things are better left unsaid.

I draw the lines around my person, my family, and my possessions in a three foot DMZ. Enter that area with unwelcome intent and you'd better be prepared to defend yourself.

This also applies to anyone who uses the legislative process to violate that zone with arbitrary or nonsensical laws.

My philosophy is live and let live. Don't bother me and I won't bother you.

The state map was interesting, but the county map was fascinating.

That south-western part of Texas that went for Gore is VERY rural - but heavily Hispanic. In some schools many classes are taught exclusively in Spanish!

With both pictures, this thread is WELL over 100K. So it's closed for length.
