Where can I get a good brown leather 1 1/4"gun belt?

I'd love to find one locally if possible but everywhere I have good has led me to believe I will probably have to custom order it from somewhere. I'm in the St. Louis area if anyone has any idea. I'd like it to be dressy enough that I can wear it out to a nice dinner if possible. I like medium brown. I do not like tan or light brown....

I have been looking at the Beltman belts.
My waist has gotten a lot thinner and my waist is only a 32 now. Do I still want an internal stiffener? Or Velcro? Normally I will be carrying IWB with a compact Glock. However... I would like to try carrying my s&w 4" 686+ in a high ride owb holster at times also. Do I want an internal stiffener?

I've been using regular belts for a few months now and as many of you know... The just don't last especially when you put some weight on them.

So where should I look for a good medium brown 1 1/4" belt? The sooner I can get it the better...

Thanks,
John

You answered your own question,,,

The Beltman makes as good a gunbelt as anyone out there.

There is no need for an optional stiffener,,,
He makes his belts out of 2 layers of hide for stiffness.

There are a lot of great belts out there,,,
None are better than what the beltman will provide for you.

Thank you. I believe your right about them being as good as anything else and appreciate your response. I plan to order one in the next couple days.
I want a good belt to go with the iwb I ordered from TTgunleather. Do I want a velcro liner on a belt? I have read on the belt-mans site that will help keep the clip on iwb I wear and will wear when I need to tuck in my shirts wearing black pants. It's a cheap nylon one and I assume the velcro will help keep it more stable which imo is the biggest problem with that holster.
I am just looking for any other options available for brown leather 1 1/4" gun belts that I may not be aware of and may be worth looking at also. Does anyone know of any other options for a 1 1/4" brown leather belt that is nice enough I can wear it when dressed up as well as casual attire.... I would love to see what other options I may not have looked at.

One thing I find interesting..... most belt and holster sales are black these days....
I am wondering if thats the case.... then a brown belt may even stand out even less to those who may otherwise may look harder.

What do you guys think? Could that possibly be a possible advantage to using a brown belt these days? Or is it wishfull thinking?;)

Regardless... I tend to wear brown belts usually so I do need to get a good one so I stop going through regular $20 ones every month. And this is just IWB with a compact glock.
Eventually I'd like to be able to wear my 4"686+ OWB in a high ride holster for rural trips and I know I will need a better belt for that. In the past when I go hiking and camping in the mountains.... I have learned to plan on the regular belt I've used to be really streched out or even destroyed after wearing a regular owb holster on it for a couple days. It's definitly time to step up to a better belt especially now that I carry all the time.

Are you sure I don't need an internal stiffiner if I plan to carry my 686 in a high ride owb at times that are appropriate? What is the story and or concensus on a velcro liners also?

You might check out biancheriusa.com. I've had Rob make me 3 holsters, magholder and matching belt. Quality & price are both excellent!!

You can't find one better than the Belt Man You don't need the stiffener but I would suggest going horse hide over bull hide since it is a little stiffer.

I am wondering if thats the case.... then a brown belt may even stand out even less to those who may otherwise may look harder

Trust me, no one will ever assume you are carrying based on color of your belt. Most people just aren't aware of their surroundings at all much less assume you arent carrying because you have a brown belt on. Hell, most people would be lucky to notice if you had on pants or not.

I've only used 2 true "gun" belts...

I've been using one of thebeltman's cowhide 1 1/2" belts for the past 4 1/2yrs now and would highly recommend one of his belts. I didn't go for the stiffener and I've carried everything from my Kahr PM9 to a fullsize steel 1911 without and problems with it. When this belt goes (if it ever does) I'll replace it with another of his.

Before it I had a Galco SB2 Sport Gun Belt that worked great for the first year then started to come apart on me.

I got a couple of nice but reasonably priced gun belts from Rafter S Gunleather, and still wear one daily 9 years later. They're in MO, as well.

I've had two Beltman belts, (one tapered, one not) and I am still highly pleased with them. He will be happy to talk to you over the phone if you have questions about stiffeners and such.

I have the same question from here in TX. About to receive my concealed carry plastic in the mail and I need a good belt. May carry Sig P229 or Sig P220. Anyone ever own a Galco belt before? Their holsters look great!

El Paso Saddlery

They make some nice things - I see them at the gun shows around the TX area. I'm hoping they are at the Ft Worth show this weekend.

Cabela's Double Duty II is great and currently half priced. My only complaint is that I do not care for the buckle design, but the buckle is interchangeable with my collection and that has never been an issue.

edit: Ooops! Just twigged to the width violation. SATC:o

I now swear by Bladetech / Looper leather with reinforcement. It is stiff and the finish is very durable.

I tried the Cabellas' Double Duty belt and found it to be pure crap. It was very weak at the buckle end - only single thickness (and very very thin) with buckle held by 2 tiny snaps. NOT QUALITY. It was also not true to size.

In answer to your question about color, you can order cordovan and wear it with anything.

I have a 1 1/4 Beltman Horsehide in that color that looks good.
