I had a guy tell me that the reports he is getting is that the geese are just now coming down Illinois. Anyone in my area confirm or deny this? I know I haven't seen any migrating...

Very short on winter birds in Arizona mtns this year. They either by passed us or didn't bother to come.

I've been seeing quite a bit here in Northeast Oklahoma. Everymorning that we go duck hunting there are about 300 in the millet across the lake from where we hunt. If only I had a boat.

So far this year we have gotten 4 canadians which is 4 more than the past two years.

There are still plenty in Southern WI, I had 50 or so fly overhead in Fort Atkinson, WI last night as I was pumping Gas...

Have seen others around here (Madison area), with temps near 50 ! today, don't think many here are heading south soon.

There is about 400 honkers on a 60 acre state lake near me. Just got back from a jog with the dog. Maggie the Lab thought we should be hunting 'em but the season is over here. Some of these are local year'rounders but there have been some flights of migrating honkers last few days. 55 degrees out and the ice is too rotten for icehole fishing. rivers are mostly open.
You want I should take Maggie back over to the lake and try to scare em south?

I was back in Southern Illinoins over the holidays, and from what I heard the hunting was pretty sad. I don't think very many have come down yet.

A few places you might want to check are Crab Orchard Wildlife Refuge, Rend Lake, and Chache River. Whare(sp?), and Wolfe Lake Illinois are also good spots too. Usually even in bad years you'll find birds in these places.

Nope the hunting was pretty sad. Saw a big flock at 400 yards that never gave us a chance. That was it. I can't this weekend but the last weekend of the season I am going to try again.
