Where are all of these cheap Canadian Garands?

I've read on a couple of threads about how there are lots of Garands in Canada (fairly cheap) and they are being smuggled into the U.S.

I'm a little perplexed. First, what are these Garands doing in Canada and why would they be cheap? Second, why would they have to be smuggled? They don't have the evil features that would restrict importation, why not just import them legally? I can't imagine there's a huge market for "Black Market Garands" out there (unless the gang-bangers are switching tactics and I'm not aware).

Anyone got a line on this?
 
Jack, under some Executive Order (signed by our own Leerless Feeder), Garands and their parts can't be imported after export. Makes sense, donut? :rolleyes:
 
Oh, there's a Clinton involved. No wonder. Thanks, I had no idea Garand parts can't be re-imported like that. I assume that applies to all gun parts. What a crock.
