When did the Detective Special Stop Serrating the Front Sight?

I have a 3rd edition nickeled that the front sight was not serrated yet the others I have seen (all blued) they were?

Any ideas about what year or serial number?

Colt stopped serrating the Detective Special front sight when they introduced the shrouded barrel in 1972.

Prior to the '72 model, Colt used the short blade sight on the old "skinny" barreled, exposed ejector rod models. These sights were always serrated.

The 1972 shrouded model has a long ramp sight, that is bead blasted.

Colt would serrate on special order, and a good many were serrated after-market.
