Whats your vote for the best climbing tree stand?

I don't have a climber and I am getting tired of screwing in the pegs everytime I move my stand. Any recomendations for a good climbing stand? Main thing I am interested in is ease of setup.

Thanks

I really enjoy my viper xls... have spent as long as 5 hours in it and the cable lock system is real simple to apply.

I am in the market for a climber for my 10 year old and as he is a little lighter than me would like something a little cheaper... is the ol'man stand cable as well?

The Ol' Man stand is a cable system. Rubber coated cable, one release pin on each piece of the stand. Light, quiet, comfortable and roomy. I've hunted all day in it several times and been comfortable. I really like the amount of room it gives you. You can use it as a gun or bow stand (meaning the seat portion is reversable so you can either have a foot rest or a gun rest, very nice feature). It has a net seat. The range of tree diameters you can use it on is great, AND if you use a pee bottle, the 32 oz GatorAide bottle fits perfectly in the frame of the seat.

I have used just about every stand out there and to me the hands down winner is the tree lounge.Recently i have injured my back, preventing me from using any other stand!Nothing is more comfortable and safe-you can take a nap in it ,change clothes, once you are on the stand you are strapped in w/an automotive style safety belt thats on even while climbing the tree. The only down side is mine is an older model thats a little heavy(new models weight 19lbs)and setup is probably longer than most others>Think about it would you rather spend an extra 15minutes during setup so that you could stay in you stand the whole day. Many times during gun season i will stay in my stand from dawn to dusk as comfortable as can be. Good Huntin

Another vote for the Summit stands. I'm currently using a Bushmaster XLS. Cable system is fast and quiet. And the Bushmaster is only 16 pounds. Not fancy, but great for bowhunting.

Do any of you Summit users have a hard time keeping the seat/upper portion on the tree? Mine will not stay on at all, until I strap it on. I can't tell you how many times I've nearly fallen when the seat lets go.

Atticus,

First stand I ever used was a Summit, and it did the same thing. Scared the crap out of me every time.

I traded my old summit with the foam cushion for a new summit with the air pillow last year. I can spend the whole day in the stand with my new summit.

ATTICUS,

Yup, same problem (feature) with the Summit Bushmaster. But I've never tried to sit in it before strapping on. Hasn't been a real issue for me. Guess that's the "down" side (pun intended) to the light weight and rigid cable.
