I am looking for the mildest JHP in 357 mag.

Dont want 38+P. Dont want a frangible load.

I am thinking its probably the 110g jhp's by federal or winchester. Anybody know for sure?

A dark horse candidate might have been the 158 grain Blazer HPs spec'd at 1150 fps from a 4 inch barrel. Unfortunately, the recent versions I have seen now have a full jacket instead of being semi-jacketed, and the "hollow point" is more of a dimple than a cavity.

Proload's 125 gr is listed at 1125 fps in a 4-inch barrel. This round beats most 38 Spl +P loadings, but is still pretty "mild" overall-- good for a lightweight snubbie. I use it in my S&W 340PD, and it handles fairly well, but still kicks some.

I have chronographed the .357 Rem 125 grain Golden Saber at 1113 fps for 344 ft-lbs energy. Test gun was a 2.5" S&W revolver. Velocity is 10-shot average.

Published spec on the round is 1220 fps from a 4" vented barrel.
