What's the legality on civilian ownership of flash bangs?

I was just wondering, as they would make a nifty tool for inducing "uninvited guests" in the ground floors of homes to clear out, when thrown from an upstairs bedroom. Nice way of letting the neighbors know soemthing is wrong , even if the phone lines have been cut.

BUZZ......just remember, it is your own house. When LEOs use em, it the house burns they can still go home to an intact home. When you use one, you gotta sleep in your own mess.

I do love the idea tho.

Nikita Khrushchev predicted confidently in a speech in Bucharest, Rumania on June 19, 1962 that: " The United States will eventually fly the Communist Red Flag...the American people will hoist it themselves."

Better [more interesting idea] is just wire the house with a sound system and big amps!

With control system in saferoom...if you know what sector they are [motion sensors?] in blast them with music! That should wake up the neighbors also...set up some strobe lights and disco balls and you have flash part of flash bang also.

Now what music to play that is a good question. Could use DVD player and a movie also hmm Dirty Harry? Or that Beethoven music with real cannons as part of the performance would be cool also.

I still remember one room mate I had in college whose sound system was bit touchy...talk about being disorientated.

Depends on your state laws. Some prohibit private ownership of 'police equipment', like a PR-24. There are no federal regs against ownership. Like the ones from Defense Technologies (Def-Tec). They are reloadable and supposedly don't start fires.

It seems to be an LEO, or military only item. I found the name of a company that makes them once.(in a Punisher Armory comic) and asked what it would take to buy one. I thought they would be a cool diversion in say a paint ball game, or a great booby trap in a car as the alarm. The company would sell it to me because I was in the military at the time, but needed a statement from my CO saying I was ordering for the ship for training or some such. Needless to say I don't own any. The grenades are reusable. But they are 4 pounds a piece for the casings. The reloads were like 12 bucks a piece. And the guys said I shouldn't use them on friends. I love the story he tells. Two cops threw them into a room with a BG. After they went off they kicked in the door. The BG had S**T and pissed himself and was feeling around for the AK he had next to him. I still think it would be great for the inside of a car to go off instead of the alarm. I am sure it would attract attention, and you would just have to pick up the guy crawling away.

These are regulated as destructive devices and require ATF approval for transfer by the manufacturer. Their disposition and use must be documented and reported to ATF by the purchasing agency/entity.
