What's the feedback on...

The feedback is,,,

Ruger just released a spanking new version of the LC9,,,
It is striker fired instead of being hammer fired,,,
The trigger is supposed to be much better.

I have one of the hammer fired models,,,
It has a long trigger pull just like everyone says.

I don't mind that very much,,,
It's not like it's a terrible trigger,,,
I got used to mine very quickly and it's no big deal.

I really like the size of the gun,,,
It's slim and fits my hand very nicely.

In fact it snuggles into my mitt so very well,,,
It promotes a quick sight alignment.

I'm doing nicely in speed drills.

Mine has fed several of the bargain FMJ's with no problem,,,
I have only tried one brand of hollow point,,,
I can't remember which brand,,,
But it fed just fine.

I'm not thrilled that the magazine catch doesn't release the slide,,,
You have to use your off hand and pull back on the slide,,,
It doesn't allow for one handed reloads.

I'm also not thrilled with it's not having double-strike capability,,,
There are many people who say that is a useless feature,,,
But I am used to it from my DA-SA pistols.

When all is told, I like the gun very well,,,
My preference is for the compact pistols anyways,,,
This is about as compact as a 9mm gets and still retain it's practicality.

$385.00 out the door isn't a bad price,,,
It's $351.00 at budsgunshop.com with free shipping,,,
But there's the FFL dealer transfer fee to add into that price's total.

Depending on what you look for in a gun,,,
This one is worth some consideration.

If the trigger really is new and GREATLY improved I would possibly LOOK at it were I in the market for a small single stack 9mm. My wife had one shortly after they came out and she hated it. I hated it too. She couldn't handle the muzzle flip and the trigger was possibly the worst I've ever felt.

Check it out and try to dry fire it a bunch in the store before you buy.

I just bought a Taurus 709. I like the trigger. it is very predictable in single action, and it has double strike capability.

It's the gun Ruger SHOULD OF produced when they rolled out the LC9 the first time around.

I had the original model. Couldn't stand the trigger. I've already moved on. I find the Shield to be much more agreeable.

I chose the Khar CW9 for my small single stack 9mm that I carry every day. Good trigger and fits well in the hand... Got mine used with 2 8-round mags and 1 7-round mag for $325 + tax...

Arrrrrgh! An LC9 with a TRIGGER DINGUS. Just buy a Glock if you like the trigger dingus. I have the original LC9 and here's what I can tell you about it;

1. Trigger pull long but smooth and not too stout for a DAO.

2. I shoot junky range ammo through it as well as defensive ammo. It eats Wolf steel cased ammo like a champ; and can handle +p (though I don't run much +p through it) - a plus for me

3. Its accurate enough to 20 feet; 30 feet if you are sipping mint juleps while lazily shooting it on a hot August day.

4. I have dropped mine twice on concrete with a loaded chamber (dern DeSantis pocket hoster). No scrapes or dings, but the front sight was knocked loose. I used blue locktite to secure it - hasn't come loose again.

5. I carry mine daily in a hot humid environment and it hasn't showed any signs of rust.

6. It has been 100% reliable - can't remember one jam, FTF, or FTE with the LC9

7. You can pocket carry it, but if it were a tad smaller, it would be easier to pocket carry.

The bottom line - mine has been a good, rugged, defensive carry piece. I appreciate its 8-round capacity. It's worth the $360 I paid for it about 2 years ago, and probably then some.
