What's the deal?!

9x19

Man, I'm cursed!

Monday, I was out pawn-shopping, looking for a new 9mm to try. I find a Ruger Police Carbine, with ghost ring sights, in excellent condition with the box and papers for $300 out the door. The problem is, it's a.40. :(

Then, last night, a co-worker, offers me his HK USP, like new in the box, less than 500 rounds thru it, for $350. The problem is, it's a .40. :(

I bought both! :D

So what's the deal with the HK? I've never owned one, which is why I bought this one, had to try one sooner or later. :)

Any problem areas I should be concerned with or... ? Thanks in advance.

9x19, no help for you on the HK info, but you do know that you now have to change both your handle and your signature line :~)

Frank

Some people look for upgrades... others come kicking and screaming.

Your move up to the .40 was a wise one. You will be pleased. :D

9x19; I had a full size USP45 for about two years. Of ALL the guns I've owned that USP was probably in the top 2 or 3 as the finest I've ever owned. I probably put maybe 4,000 rounds through it. Not one malfunction of any kind! It was a fine, fine pistol and I'm sorry I got rid of it. Good Shooting, J. Parker

Frank,
I think I'll wait until the .40s outnumber the 9s in my gun room. :D

George,
I'm not moving, just cruising the surrounding neighborhoods. I LIKE the 9mm. I've owned other calibers but keep coming back to the 9mm.

J.Parker,
I hope this one is as good.

9X19,

If that's cursed, I wish someone would curse me too! :)

I'm sure you will like the USP. I've not shot a .40 but I have a full size .45 and I love it. Not very good for CCW due to it's size but it's a joy to shoot and it shoots very well. No jams of any kind and accurate. It will be interesting to compare accuracy to the CZ-97 once I pick up one of those.

The only problem area I am aware of is if yours has the built in key locking system. I think all pistols so equipped will have a KK or AA date stamp. They weren't used before 1999. (I made sure mine did not have this "feature".) As long as you don't rack the slide with the lock engaged you shouldn't have a problem. Better yet, disengage the lock and then throw away the key. Other than that I know of nothing that will give you problems.

HK is good. You shouldn't have any problems with it unless, of course, the guy sold it to you screwed up. Remember, the USP started out as a .40 and was scaled down to 9mm.

I suggest you sell it for a USP 9. You'll feel better knowing it's a niner. :D

.357Sig,
Actually, if we don't get along the USP will probably be traded for a Glock Model 20 in September (Gun Show).

Coineach,
See above... :D

You may want to use a snap cap when dry firing a lot. There have been a few people who broke firing pins by dry firing their USP.
Other than that, ENJOY, they are fantastic guns.

Chipperman,

Thanks, I do have some snap caps in evey caliber, including .22 LR, so I will use them.
