#What's the best way to clean a gun: GunMate BoreSnake or brushes?

Brush, solvent, patch, scrub, repeat. I have a boresnake for almost every (do they have one for my 6.5 jap?) caliber I own, I use them like one would that old oily rag you wipe your guns w/ that hasn't been washed in years. Oil them up run 'em through and all powder residue is gone, great at the range, but for heavy duty work they suck. The embedded brushes wear our in a hurry and replacing them is a twenty buck proposition as opposed to a 1.99 brush.

I've found that some solvents are so strong that a brush isn't necessary, Sweet's in particular, but don't let it sit to long in the bore.

If you have the money, Outer's Foul-Out III Electro-magnetic bore cleaner is the absolute best way to clean a bore. I cleaned a revolver(twice) with solvent and a patch, then used Foul-Out. You would not believe the amount of lead that came out of what I thought was a clean bore!
