Whats the best US parts kit AK's

I am looking to purchase a US parts kit AK, but lately I have been hearing about the shadey quality of many of the US parts kit AK's. So far I have determined by listening to many people complain that Hesse arms and Krinks suck. I have been hearing mixed reviews about Century arms, some good some bad. Which company out there produces a quality US parts kit AK?

IMHO, the best US parts are made by steel stamping sets...particularly ones that have a letter U and an S in the set. I did not say this. I was not here. ;)

If you can find one of the Bulgarian milled receivers floating around, the K-VAR parts kits are very nice. It makes for a heavy AK, just like the complete Bulgarian SLR-95, and we know how nice those rifles are...

Right now there are only 2 companies that I know of who are making real, US trigger groups.

FSE makes the POS cast parts that are in all of the pistol gripped, "made in the USA" AKs on the market. These parts have been the only game in town for a long time.

Blue Ridge Precision now has trigger groups or sale that are advertised as being milled and properly heat treated. These look like a MUCH better option than the FSE parts. I don't know how much they are and I haven't laid eyes on a set yet but intend o try them out.

There are posts, pics and links to Blue Ridge at http://www.ak47forums.com and http://www.ak-47.net

My SAR 1 is one of the models made in 2000 and I can say that I have have zero problems with it. The hammer still looks just fine after 500 or so rounds, and many dry fires. It does not seem to have the problem that some of the previous ones seemed to, where the hammer would start to dent, and then you would get light primer strikes.
Certainly worth $300.

I'd just like to point out that installing a barrel to trunion or trunion to receiver on an AK is not trivial. WAY harder than Fals, ARs, etc.

And especially with the stamped receivers, it's possible for it to just not come together right.

I would suggest you go with a gun you can inspect that is at least barreled. . . check that the front sights are straight, and that the stock fits on tight.

Battler.
