Picked these up for shooters, the P-08 is a 1914 and the p-38 is a byf 43. What the best 9mm round to shoot through these for reliabilty and not pound the guns.

Nice Pair!!

Those look great. I've always liked the P 38. The Luger is nice as well. I've never owned one but several of the guys in our old IPSC club had P 38s and one had a Luger. They shot PMC factory loads pretty much exclusively.

Two or three times a year they would loan the guns to the club for special matches where every shooter in attendance (anywhere from 25 to 60 people) shot about a magazine full of rounds through them. That's a lot of shooting over time! As far as I know it never hurt the guns.

I don't think I would run much if any +P stuff through their gizzards. They would likely handle some but I would not take a chance. The PMC stuff is pretty mild.

Just my cent-and-a-half! Again, nice guns!

Avoid +P and JHP rounds.

Aside from that, the P-38 should handle just about any brand of 115 or 124gr ball.

Lugers can be very finicky. Believe it or not they actually work best with HOT loads. Just don't run the +P ammo through them either, as they are made using old steels and metallurgy and might not be able to take it. From what folks on www.lugerforum.com say, it seems the load that best replicates the original military load is Winchester-USA 124gr ball. I tried a box of it in my 1940 Mauser and had no problems at all.
