Who do you guys think make the best .22 target pistol? Requirements:
1. It must be light weight. I have to shoot it one handed.
2. Scope mountable
3. Semi-Auto
Price is not an issue.

Thanks!

Svt,

I just bought a Sig Hammerli Trailside this weekend. It is NOT scope mountable, but it is VERY accurate. It came with piece of a center of a practice target that shows a 5-shot group fired at a distance of 28 yards at the factory. The grouping is less than 1/4-inch. I did not shoot that today, but was very pleased. And the the grip is very confortable.

Rock,
Please post when you fire it. I'd like to know more info about how it fires one handed. I'm joining the pistol team for my Sportsmen Club. That's why I'm looking for a nice 22 target pistol.

Top of the line:
Hammerli 208S - $~1900
Hammerli SP20 - $~1500

I just bought a Beretta 89 Gold Standard, however My first day out at the range yesterday brought about a whole series of problems so as of now I cannot recommend one.
Good Luck

Just got the Hamerli .22 Trailside; haven't shot it yet.

I have shot my son's Trailside though... NICE grip; superb accuracy with CCI green label.
There is something VERY strange about the Hamerli test targets though... The three that I've seen have targets shot at widely different distances. The one my son got has shows one ragged hole on the test target and is marked 50 meters!!!!!!!! Very strange...

We both shot my son's Trailside and it was more accurate than his modified long barell Ruger target pistol. It was also more accurate than my Model 41 Smith and Wesson which is the most accurate .22 I've ever had.

We were not able to duplicate the test target however -- not even close. I suspect that they are shot from a machine. The BEST I shot, from a fair bench was about 1 1/2" at 40 yards. I can't see any better than that!!!

I did fire it today, I just meant that I had not come close to duplicating the accuracy of the test target. However, I was just plinking and not concentrating on hitting the bullseye.

For my nickel, the Walther GSP is the best .22 target pistol presently made. However, Hammerli, Pardini, and Sako all make bullseye pistols that are more accurate than 99% of the shooters out there.

Unless you are shooting High Master scores, though, I'd look real hard at a S&W Model 41. The 41 is the best American-made target pistol, and people regularly win national and international target matches with them. It has a trigger adjustable for pull weight and overtravel, good balance, great sights, and is scope mountable.

Give it a try. I shoot one belonging to my club, and like it so much I'm saving for one of my own.

Chris

rock yes it is scope mountable.
it has a 1/2" rails. all you need is a 1/2" to 1" adaptor from weaver to accept standard weaver clamps. model #T010 for $4.99

I must agree with Christopher II. I have the Hammerli 208S and Sako Triace kit. Both are great pistols. The Walther is another top choice. Not familiar with the others he mentioned.

My model 41 has been fitted with two Clark barrels and it will shoot with the imports now. Since you want to mount a scope this may be an option and it will come out less expensive.
