Whats the AWP in ......

AWP stands for "Arctic Warfare Police". Their AW rifles have special coatings, mechanisms, etc. that are designed for and are ideal for extremely cold conditions. I'm not sure what makes the P model specific to police use.

Artic Warfare-Police. The difference is that the AWP has a slightly heavier barrel. Also, the metal and stock are both black. Hence the AW's being refered to as "green rifles".

If I remember correctly the AWP is also stated to retain it's accuracy longer then the AW. I haven't reached that point with mine and probably won't for a long time but that stated criteria was one of the biggest factors why I chose the AWP over the AW.

"The AWP rifle has a stiffer and shorter 610mm (24") barrel to maximize precision. Usual calibers are .243 Win (1 in 10 twist) and .308 Win (1 in 12 twist). The rifle is designed to perform best with match-grade ammunition. Butt length can be adjusted to suit the firer by using spacers."

Also available are the AWM = Arctic warfare Magnum, and AW50 = .50 Cal.
