Why did AR-15 change there site address?

Anybody know what the deal is with the AR-15 com. website - why did they change their address? Anybody heard the reason? Haven't tried to get in yet and just saw the posts that people were having some problems.

slymule,...

go to this link

http://www.ar15.com:1111/

btw,.. you will need to register again (go to new member?), but you can use your old screen name and password,.. you just have to do it again,.. and another,.. we are all starting again as junior member :(

after you have log on,..you will notice on the left hand side your screen name,..and below in links about "log off", "changing password" and i think "edit profile". when you see this it means that you have successfully log on.

now you have to go and click on forums and it will take you there. also 4 different forums... here they are

AK47 = self-explantory
AR1515.com public forums = self-explanatory
equipment exchange = for sale boards
industry forums = manufacturer boards/forum

hope you make it there....

is the 1111 site permanent or temporary?

I thought the http://www.ar15.com:1111 web site was just a temporary thing, to be used for experiments.

Is it now the permanent site?

If so, why don't they alias the old site to it?

I for one have just been waiting for the "regular"
http://www.ar15.com to come back online, because I thought the 1111 was temporary. And 'cause I don't like its format (eg, where the heck is the "for sale" section???)

from what i have been able to figure:

The AR15 email list was hosted on a Majordomo server that Ed Avila hosted some where in New York state.
That server died mid december and has yet to be resurected.

AR15.com main sight was prolly on other hardware in that location, and that went DOA a couple o weeks ago.

.1111 is prolly running on a lower powered machine, in the same IP node, as a forum experiment test.
.1111 may be up but, IMHO it is not a "replacement"

Supposedly Ed is several hours away from where the hardware is located
and has not been able to get there to bring it on line.

HAHAAH

Just to be fair, Lord knows we have had our share of malfunctions at AK-47.net... The AR ones seem to be a whole different level though - when it rains, it pours :D

When i posted on a thread about the disappearance of the AR15List last month, the moderators deleted the thread.
Its seems as if the sparkle of maintaining an AR15 playground for webheads as worn off Ed A.

The other possibility is that the hardware has been migrated to BATF HQ
:o
