What's a "Post Sample"

I saw some posts on www.gunsamerica.com for "post samples". They were listed on the Class 3 area, for the Beretta 93 and a few others. Just curious if anyone knows what a "Post Sample" is. Is it a dealer demo?

That is a post-86 dealer sample. Under the McClure-Volkmer act of 1986 (an otherwise pro-gun bill), machine guns were banned from private ownership much like assault rifles.

The only people who can own post-86 weapons are licensed dealers and manufacturers of class III weapons, military, and law-enforcement.

Machine gun ownership was not banned, but no NEW machine guns could be produced for civilian sales.

Thus anything (full auto) made after '86 can only be possessed by a civilian if they are a Class III weapons dealer, and only if the dealer can obtain a letter from a police or military department stating the dealer is acquiring the weapon for them to test/evaluate.

Once said weapon is acquired it may be transferred among class III dealers as a Post '86 Sample. It still may NOT be transferred to a non-dealer civilian.

It's useless unless you have a Class 1, 2, or 3 SOT/FFL or if you are LE (with dept. letter) or military.
