What’s a G23 worth?

I have a friend who wants to sell his Glock M23, (.40 cal) manufactured in 9/96, with three 10 rd mags, good to very good condition, plastic loader, tupperware, manual and warranty card.

Fired between 4-5000 rounds over the years. A certified Glock armorer checked it last spring – OK. No other modifications or additions that I know of.

What is this gun worth? Or better, is there somewhere we can look up used prices for this type of gun?

Thanks,
Michael

In my area a NIB model 23 .40 caliber with (2) ten rounder's is going for $479.95. My local dealer, being a fair person would
probably offer a used 23 with (3) ten rounder's for somewhere
around the $375.00 mark?:D:)

When selling a pistol you will do better to do a private sale. A used Glock with 3 mags would go about $350.00 in a private sale. You can expect that a dealer would only offer you $250- $275 for your pistol at the most.

A good place to check is over at Glock Talk. A lot of folks are selling Glocks in the forum and it would be a good place to see what price the market would bear for your G23.

I recently sold a G36 for $450 in a private sale after my dealer only offered me $300 for it in a trade. I didn't even bother asking what he would for a cash price. But at the same time he had a used G36 for $600.00....so you can see where avoiding a dealer can save you a lot of money.

One and all,

Thanks for the assistance. As is typical in these cases, I asked for a few days to get back to him with some numbers… He already sold it for $200.00 to a dealer, out right cash.

Some days, you wonder why you agree to help. If I had known that, I would have offered the $200.

Anyway, thanks for all of the suggestions, a quick look at the sites you gave and it appears he left between $150-250 sitting on the table.

Thanks again,
Michael.

$200 for a Glock? Man, that just gives me a stomach ache. :(

PreserveFreedom,
Just think of the stomach you would have when you see that same gun on the dealers shelf for $500 and the story would be "that is the cheapest I can go, I am into that gun for almost that".:barf:

I understand that dealers are in business to make money but some of them are real crooks.

If I had a dime for every time I heard a dealer say that...
