Whatever happened to Sigma Series?

I´m just curious. I live far away and just noticed that i haven´t seen a comment on the S&W Sigmas in ages.

I´m aware of the S&W stigma but nevertheless i wonder what was the commercial success/flop of those guns and if they were/are discontinued or what happened to them that noone cares to talk good or bad of these guns.

Personnally, i´ve never handled one but i don´t like them particularly.

thanks for the input:)

I think they are still in production. They do not seem to be very popular. Maybe S&W makes them just so they can say they have a polymer frame like everyone else.

Flop would cover it...:p Blatant copy of the Glock. Couple that with S&W's political mismanagement and you have the Sigma. You can still see them on sale but not worth the recycled soda bottles they were made from!

I've had a couple of Sigmas in the past. Both were 9mm. I actually
think quite highly of them- very natural point of aim with them;
trigger was a little weird and I never quite got used to it; soft-
shooting; put a few thousand rounds through each- first one was
a little finicky with ammo, but the second one (Sigma enhanced)
pretty much gobbled up everything I fed it; I didn't care for the
original version's smooth grips (felt like a bar of soap), but the
enhanced version took care of that. I ditched them because, at the time, I needed the cash in a hurry. Would love to get another
one, except maybe this time in .40 S&W.

My Sigmas have been good guns. I have one in 9mm and one in 40s&w. They both have about 4000 round through them, I have never had a problem with them. I know that the first Sigmas had problems but so far my VE's have not. My primary carry gun is a 40VE loaded with 16 rounds of 165gr Golden Sabers.

My department issues the Sigma in .40 S&W and has now for about six years. We get good accuracy and reliability out of the "F" series that we obtained first but the later "E" series have been a complete disappointment, I think all of the "E"s have been returned to the manufacturer for warranty work as they failed to feed or fire often enough to make HCI happy. Out of eighty "F" series guns I have replaced three or four slides that cracked in the feed rails and several where the real sight would simply decide to fall out during the initial break in period.

I'm confident in my ability to hit my target with my Sigma and that fifteen round mag capacity is comforting but you kinda wonder when it's going to decide to go south.

The request for bid on a new duty weapon went out last week.:)

Just curios, where exactly are the "feed Rails" that cracked???
On a sigma gun, seems that the one I owned had a feed ramp that was integral to the barrel??

Probation and parole issues them in Delaware, they seem to like them, personally the poor trigger was the reason I got rid of my .40V.
