What would you do if a mob was breaking into homes in your neighborhood?

With the economy ready to collapse at any time, there is a threat of people who are unprepared with provisions of their own breaking into your home in search of food, water and anything valuable. What do you do? Say its a mob of around a hundred people and they're headed right towards your home.
Do you run and hide, try to blend in with the mob, or fire a warning shot and let them know you will kill to protect your family?
What happens if martial law is declared and the marines go door to door confiscating weapons? Then you have to worry about mobs with guns they didnt confiscate because they werent registered in the first place.
I know this topic is a bit over the top, but with recent current events worldwide, its not so far fetched... So what would you do?
