What would be the best way to use a coin as a grip cap on my rifles stock?

I am redoing my Marlin's stock and along with some other things, my initials and some scroll work, am inlaying 2 gold coins my Gram gave me on both sides of the stock and am trying to figure out the best way to use the final coin (a Statue of Liberty 1 dollar coin) as a pistol grip cap without drilling any holes in it. Any ideas will be appreciated, thank you for your response and ideas.

Sorry if this is in the wrong category

Get a grip cap and route out the inner portion to a hole smaller than the coin. Attach the cap to the grip, over the coin. Maybe some glue to keep the coin from moving around.

Or, route out the grip to accept the coin, press fit. Then place a lucite cap over the grip, trim and polish to fit.

I have used just regular wood working tools and inlet it into the stock until its flush . Use sanding dust from the actual stock and mix with acura glass to seat the item you want inlet'ed into the stock . it seems to match the stock well and helps hide it if you make a mistake inletting . since you are refinisning the whole stock you can tape off the coins with masking tape or finish over them but I would tape them off .

I've thought about doing the same on a nice wood rifle. I thought it would be cool to do a South Carolina medallion in my project rifle at school.

I did something similar on a Winchester 52 thumb hole target stock. The grip had a hole through it from a previous owner. Used a forstner bit and drilled a round pocket about 1/4" deep. Painted the background black and inserted a medallion then poured the cavity full with a clear casting resin. After it was hardened, sanded and finished the stock. These pics don't show the project after it was cleared, but it came out nice.
