what would a modern "Bar-B-Que" gun look like ???

one of my buddys had a barn dance a couple weeks ago, & he was in my carry class, & we are both "gun nuts"... when I called to confirm our coming, as a joke I asked if a carry gun was manditory... he replyed that he expected I'd have one... from this we got talking about BBQ guns, & niether of us really had one that qualifys... I do have a "Snake Eyes" edition NAA mini that I often carry, but we both though we'd better get a BBQ gun ( hey, it's a good excuse to buy another gun )...

I have a perlite gripped Colt pocket in 25 acp, my chrome or polished nickle Colt 45 ( I'd have to take the dot scope off it, & it's pretty scratched up, the reason it got the dot scope in the 1st place ), & my "Snake Eyes" mini are the only guns that seem any sort of fancy... I suppose I could switch to a fancy grip & carry one or both of my polished Montados... but as far as any kind of engraving... this is my only option...

(BH) nailed it. :) Been waiting a looong time for the prefect time to post that pic, haven't you? :D

Hell, I don't even know what BBQ gun might be. I think I'd just take a G30 and call it done.

This may not fit Lawdog's definition of a barbecue gun, but I'm east of the Mississippi River anyway. Here's my entry:

My BBQ gun is not yet done.

It's a 4" Redhawk, stainless, in .44 magnum. Cylinder cut for .44 moonclips. Fiber optic front sight. Matte bead blasted finish with chromed cylinder turn line and polished stainless hammer/trigger/cylinder release. Well-tuned DA action by Ken at Wild West Guns.

I really like the soft grips that came with it, but I'm thinking that some nice hardwood grips would be nice, especially if engraved with something. Perhaps an adaptation of the AZ flag, the setting western sun and streaming sunlight across the sky? Something without finger grooves, kinda like the grips that come with the S&W 625 Miculek edition but sized for the Redhawk grip frame?

let's see Backyard bar-b-que is kinda an american tradition so how about a "made in the 200th year of american liberty" Ruger Blackhawk with Hogue "American Flag" scrimshaw grips shown third from top.

I have one similiar to yours. Your photo prop man is brave indeed. It looks like the weapon is cocked, safety off, magazine inserted, and pointed at his heart.................

Didn't you read the link posted in #5?

In short, they are super sweet looking guns. Your "Sunday go to Church" rig. Guns with more class than 10 high-dollar pro's put together. Plastic and matte finished need not apply.

Mine:

Lacking some engraving and needing a good "Doc Holiday" shoulder rig I but it's the classiest one I have.

There is a possibility that the gun is cocked because he just pulled the slide back to check the chamber? Also a gun is more photogenic when the mag is inserted and the slide closed.

my thoughts run traditional, but agree the gun should look classy, not pimpy... & for me will be a revolver, & probably with some sort of engraving ( I have been looking at a cased, nicely blued & engraved S&W at the toy store ), though I'd prefer a polished stainless gun for durability & flash factor... but I think SUPERHOUSE's revolver looks classy, as does KYJIM's Colt

... but living in a modern world, maybe that old engraved revolver isn't a modern BBQ gun ??? maybe it's that dolled up semi auto... my buddy that had the barn dance, is much more of a semi auto guy than a revolver guy, so I'm looking for examples of both for ideas...

Here in Uh-Hi-Ah we don't have much in the way of BBQ guns. There are a few folks that do but they are usually transplants from New Mexico or Texas or such.

I had never heard of a BB-Q gun either. Looked it up and it seems like this is a Texas thing. Pretty cool idea, though. I wouldn't mind having a BBQ gun that I could wear to special events.

Folks dont wear guns to our bar b ques, dont want to mess em up, the brisket and pork is mighty moist.

After we open the trunks and get em out go behind the hill and shoot it up some.
