What UN hole did Jan Egeland...

I abhor the UN as much as the next guy, but, I don't see what the issue is with this article.

True, he did say "investment in the poor areas", and I realize that's kind of a hot-button set of words, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Who doesn't want to make a poor area thrive?

Aside from that though - the only thing I take away from this is: "huge ass cities are big concentrations of people and are therefore vulnerable to acute natural disasters. Planning and detection is critical". What's the issue here?

"the sky is falling...the sky is falling"...he is using "fear" as a tool. Frankly, he has just "appeared" on the international "stage" and is using hype to make a name for himself. The world doesn't need this kind of crap.

I would like to know how much his country of origin is doing for tsunami victims?
How much of his U.N. paycheck did he give to victims. He really must have that hate the U.S. disease going around. Symptoms include: talking out of your arse about the U.S. policies when you don't know or look for the facts. Attempting to single out the U.S. as greedy, stingy, or anything else that we are not trying to gain politically or just pushing a hate agenda. Attempting to connect an act of God to the U.S. being greedy while asking us to pay for the entire world but we are greedy. Deciding to overlook all the donations from the private sector because they don't make as good a sound bite saying citizens are giving millions while Bill Gates alone has probably given more than this UN tool's entire country private and government sectors combined(reported as 500million/half a billion!!!. :eek: ) How is it that the U.N. speakers have no understanding of the world around them?
 
He seems to be saying that if a major disaster happens in a populous city a lot of people will be killed. Well, duh. My recollection is that when we had a disaster in New York in September of 2001 the response from the UN was lukewarm.

The letters UN actually stand for Unethical Nacacist, if I rememebr the UN was developed as an experiment, well the experiment went beserk and is a failure so it should be terminated but wont. The UN feels it should rule the world ( new world order) more like out of order, just the actions of Koffi tells the whole story. Most of the UN members are dictators or royal rulers who dont believe in freedom, capitolism, or democracy. That is why we are despised by most and the ones that arent are jealous of us. America is what it is due to the populice, but unfortunatly the liberals seem to be growing in numbers more and more and mostly due to the education system brain washing them as early as elementry school. The UN would love to control all the money going to the tsunami, then the UN bigshots could retire more wealthy than they already are. They are as corrupt as it gets and its not only financially either, they are also morally bankrupt. The world seems to heading toward socialism and I think the european union is a great example. Where is the rest of the world when the U.S. has a disaster, but boy when thier in trouble whers the first place they turn and ask for help and money!
