What type of hair is this?

Alright. I have something around my house that is killing out cats by the bucket load. I have shot two problems foxes and we have about 100 raccoons an acre, but this hair looks like some kind of pig hair or something. Please give me your opinion.

HAIR SPECS: :D

About 1-1 1/2 inches long

Pretty stiff

Tapers quite obviously

I found it in a quarter sized wad right next to the swamp where I live.

I was thinking that. Kind of weird that a pig would go onto a dock that goes about 15 feet into the swamp. No over any water or anything, just siting on the reeds and... muck.

Thanks guys. Michael

mmtecg, what area of the country do you live in? In a warm climate, seems as though thats alot of hair for a pig. Check with hogdogs but I`ve never seen hog hair in a wad or really thick. Any Oriental restaurants close by?:D

Uh-uh, simon. Hair is what chupies ain't got no of.

It could be that the hair of the OP is from a hog. Maybe there's something that lives around the swamp which figures piggies = food and clawed or bit out a chunk of hair. Or, maybe, a couple of pigs fighting. I've seen clumps of hair missing from the hide of a buck who'd been fighting during the rut, so it could be something of that sort.

I was gonna say Big foot but dont ever recall him killing cats. Seriously though go get a trailcam and set it up where you found the hair.

To me, It appears to be hog or black bear...
If a hog can catch the cat... he will will relish the tasty treat. Heck we toss the guts, hides and bones from deer and everything else into the hog pen and they fight like starving dogs to get it.

Thanks for the helpful replies guys. I live in Flagler Beach, FL and I am beginning to think that maybe something else is doing the killing.

Ain't no way in the world a Hog can CATCH a cat......

I've never seen a hog that can climb a tree or a post... Cat's are tough.
