What should I use for the wood on my rifle stock to keep the finish nice on it?
Any suggestions would be appreciated..
What do you guys use and have success with?
Thanks

What I use on my M1A

is my wife's best furniture polish. It's called "Olde English Oile" or something like that. It's oily (well, duh) and soaks into the wood, giving it depth and sheen. It resists fingerprints.

Is it the Old English liquid in a bottle that you actually rub into the wood or the type in the can that you spray on and wipe off?
Also how often do you do you use it, everytime you clean the rifle after shooting?
Thanks

It'd help if we knew what sort of finish is on it. F'rinstance, if its a hand-rubbed oil, then a couple drops of oil rubbed in and polished out with a clean soft cloth works nice.
If its that plastic crap they slosh over Remingtons, a damp dishrag will remove most fingerprints, etc. :D

I found some stuff called Stickley furniture dressing. I am not sure where you could every find it. Maybe a very expencive furniture store but it is great.

What Swifter means is . . .

is your stock glossy and shiny or is it like a matte/satin oil finish?

I just looked in the cupboard and as of now I use Scott's Liquid Gold. Ah well. It is the same kind of stuff, you spray it on, wipe it, it stays "shiny" until you wipe it dry and put it away. It's oily, but it's not oil.

Your stock is like fine furniture, unless it's more like polycarbonate. Hope that helps.
