What to use for a lanyard?

I looking at taking a canoe trip with my LCR. I have the lanyard eyebolt for it. But what should I used for the actual lanyard? This will probably be a concealed carry trip. I need something for retention, but that will allow me to conceal and draw. Any suggestions?

The best lanyards these days are the "phone cord" type that are coiled plastic covered wire.

This is the favorite type for many police SWAT teams and military special ops.
The coiled cord stays out of the way and doesn't get tangled with gear and clothing like ordinary cord lanyards.

I'd go with para cord. It is cheap, and if you do the google, I'm sure you can step by step instructions to weave a nice lanyard. The do it yourself factor is easy and cool.

I also suggest para chord, also when its needed it can be unbraided and uesd as rope when things get rough.

I made the lanyard for my G20/10mm out of paracord and a dog snap. Useful for treestand hunting and crashing about on ATV or afloat.

I have often wished that my issue SIG P220 had a lanyard loop, but it does not.

The phone cord lanyards look pretty slick too.

I had an army surplus lanyard but gave it to a horse rider ! Google the army surplus websites.
