What to have with your Shinner?

A BIG plate of chicken fried steak with gravy, buttered carrots and green beans cooked with bacon, Threadgill's here I come!

Beef fajitas, homemade picante sauce and totilla chips, and sopapillas for dessert.

Geez, now I'm hungry.

LawDog: Do you make the picante sauce? Sounds good to me. And I know what you mean about feeling hungry :) I have that problem all the time.

Take some tomatoes, green onions to taste, a bunch of cilantro, a squeeze of lemon, a fire-roasted serrano pepper (more or less, depending on how spicy you want your sauce), a teaspoon or so of vinegar and a bit of garlic. Bung all the ingredients into a blender.

Voila! Picante sauce.

Awwww LawDog...you had to mention Sopapillas! I love them...but obviously don't get the chance to eat them very often. Yet another reason why I need to visit Texas!!!

Glamdring...You? Hungry? Nahhhh...never! ;)

Jeff...Don't forget the duct (or duck) tape...that way she'll stick around! :D

As for what I want with my Shiner....Good friends and whatever someone else is cooking!!! :D

Never had a Shinner, but I'll eat just about anything with Shiner - Steak, Ribs, Chicken-Fried Steak, Burgers, Fajitas, Enchiladas, Chips, Ice Cream, Cereal... The list goes on. :D

Dang it Lawdog, after just putting up 14 quarts of homemade sun cooked dill pickels you've just given me something else to try. Can you substitue fresh Cayenne or jalapenos or what ever else hasnt burned up in the garden yet? No serrano's around here, and hobenaro's are too freakin hot. :D

What about those GREAT bratwurst they have in Fredericksburg? Or, tamales and fresh bread from Flores' Country store?

You blokes call 'em shrimp -- but we call 'em "prawns" -- and they're "big" suckers!!

Deveined, shelled except for the tail, and stir-fried in a chilli sauce ...

Gimme MORE!!!

Apart from that -- anything with plenty of salt (Beer seems to demand salt.)
