I am buying a FN FAL from a friend of mine and am trying to decide what i want to use it for. i was checking out the DSarms.com webpage and they have some neat rifles on there, like the SPR SA58 and the Para rifle witha 16" barrel, tactical handguards and folding colpsible stock. id like to get into some long distance (500 yards or more) shooting, are these good rifles for that? thanks for the advice! and pictures of custom FALs if you have them! thanks!

Personally iid find something, just bout anything and shoot it, i'd really like to try shoot a bird out of the air with a rifle, try that if you wana take up the challenge.

I have no doubt the gun is capable of shooting to 500yards with some accuracy, I don't have the fogiest what kind of accuracy though.

500 yds.? Probably not.

It is a combat rifle, which means you should be able to hit a man at 200 m. Not 500.

Actually, being that it's a military rifle, it should be able to hold 4 MOA or better which equals to the shoulder width of a human at that distance.

thesheepdog is right. military rifles (especially those chambered in 7.62NATO) were held to the standard of being able to tag people at 500 yards.

and to the guy that is suggesting shooting a bird out of the air, i am going to assume you are joking. i mean, it would be cool to be able to do that, but all the misses, and even hits, would result in a ballistically stable (and therefore dangerous) bullet flying miles past where you can see. unless you own a huge tract of land, i suggest you not do this.
