What to buy?!?!?!

I want/need a new carry gun and I'm sure I want a .45. Which .45 is the problem. I have narrowed it down to two pistols that happen to be on opposite ends of the spectrum. I have the money for either, but can't decide on whether the high-end pistol is worth it. I am looking at either a Kahr CW 45 or a Kimber CDP II Pro. Both pistols and great and I have wanted a CDP Pro for several years now. I can finally afford one, but don't know if it's worth $1200+. The CW 45 will do everything I want it to do, less the upgrades. PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I appreciate any and all input you all are willing to give me.

Thanks,

BAsed on what you wrote it is hard to give you meaningful advice based on the two weapons you mention in your post. Do you want a 1911 or a striker fired weapon? If concealed carry is your primary concern then the Kahr makes a lot of sense for the money. Just can't make a good choice/recommendation based on the info you gave.

I apologize for being so vague. I have always wanted a CDP Pro and it's my dream gun. I am just having trouble justifying the expense. I was looking at the Kahr from a value perspective. I have read lots of reviews and it seems like a great gun for the money. I just don't know if the CDP is really worth the price tag. I am open to any suggestions to carry guns though. Thanks for your help.

Sure it is. If you want it get it. I only regret the firearms I didn't buy. Both are great carry pieces BTW and you couldn't go wrong with either.

If you have always wanted a CDP, get it. I am a big believer in adjust your budget for the gun you want, and not settling on a different gun based on your current budget, it usually costs you more in the long run due to being dissatisfied and having to sell. I say, since your budget now allows for the CDP, to buy it. :D

If those were the only choices I had I would go with the Kimber. But I would actually prefer a compact S&W M&P .45 than either with a sub compact XD-45/Glock tied for second place. Good luck with whichever gun you choose.

Before purchasing either, perform some due diligence on the CDP II Pro. You either get a great pistol or one that you want to sell immediately. Just my 2¢

The "best" gun is the one YOU like, not anyone else. It will be a compromise of:

1. Fit - It should fit in your hand like you were born with it there.
2. Reliability - It should go BANG about 99.8% of the time you pull the trigger.
3. Accuracy - In YOUR hand. It's how well YOU shoot it.
4. Concealability - It should be comfortable enough to wear and easy enough to conceal so you won't leave it laying on the dresser at home.
5. Cost - You don't want to scrimp on your "life protector" weapon, but you probably don't need a $1,000 Kimber, either.

I agree with Jack. A carry gun needs to be reliable but it doesn't need to be a high-end handgun. For carry, you want something you'd be willing to drop on concrete without hesitation. When the situation is over and the LEO shows up and yells, "drop it" that's exectly what I'm going to do.

Firearms are much more than just practical tools to most of us, they're also emotional. That's why we keep buying more. Buy what you really want. You can (and will) buy something else another day.

Kimber

I have never shot either gun, but from what you said, im 90 percent sure you better get the kimber. If you can afford your dream gun and you dont get it your going to regret it until you can save up another 1200 bucks. A Kahr or decent other carry .45 wont take as long to save up for

Kimber all the way, it's my dream gun too!!

BTW, put the gun down or away before the LEO's arrive. There;s no reason to drop a firearm. especially a loaded one.
