What these three 1911 like to eat

My son's Ruger has functioned flawlessly with 185 grain to 230 grain flat nose and round nose jacketed bullets as well as cast lead SWC. So far it's never met a bullet it didn't like. My wife's Sigsauer C3 also feeds 185 to 230 grain flat and round nose jacketed with no problem but will not feed lead SWC. My brother's Kimber's slide will not move back when my 185 grain loads are fired but will feed if the slide is manually operated but the 230 Winchester white box works fine, I haven't tried the SWC. I'm not headed any where with this, just thought somebody might like to know.

My colt, and S&W 1911 have no problems with any jacketed bullets, ball and HP...maybe the soft lead hang in on the ramp a bit? Also what is the point of SWC in a 1911? Just curious..

My Springfield made in 2014 has been great. I shoot 90% ball fmj 230 gr. But all the hollow points and the few swc it has fed perfect. I love swc, the punch clean holes through paper, to me are more accurate, and will do more damage to tissue than a standard ball fmj. I just hate cleaning up after them. And inside are a wee bit smoky.

I have these Speer lawman 200gr fmj flat points that I save for woods carry. Since locally I cannot find any decent priced hardened lead, I figure these being fmj should be fairly hard for critter skulls and being flat point should cause a slight bit more damage to meat than round nose

Due to the long body shape, they are very accurate, if sized correctly.
They allow for a scoring advantage due to the clean large holes they make in targets.
Just about any 1911 can digest them with a little bit of judicious modification.
And they are one of the least expensive bullets to use for reloading.
That's all I use.

A favorite bullet configuration (especially those weighing 185 grains) for many of us Bullseye shooters.

They can be used for powderpuff target loads, kick butt bowling pin match loads, or even viable woods defense bullets if properly hardened/alloyed and in the higher weight. A hardcast 230-255gr lead SWC or Keith style bullet at 900+ fps really beats the 230gr fmj ball if your fun will reliably run it. And most will
