I stumbled across the web site of "the coalition to stop gun violence" . Not only are they advocating a ban on firearms, they have a section on state gun laws that makes Kentucky sound like a third world country.

This web site does give some insite into thier tactics. They also have a list of cases were they say the United States Supreme Court has ruled the second amendment does not proctect an individuals right to own firearms. they also have a guide on how to sue a firearms dealer, manufacturer, or homeowner where a shooting took place.

I will try to post the link here for any one who wants to see the website. It made me angry but you might want to see it.

this is the url. thanks therealkaos

Here's an interesting quote from an Amicus brief filed by the "Educational Fund to End Handgun Violence".

Even if we were to assume for purposes of argument – an assumption
which we totally reject -- that the Second Amendment gives individuals the
right to bear arms unrelated to organized militia considerations, that right
like other Constitutional rights is not absolute.

Reeeaaaaallllyyyy.............

Actually, Rights ARE absolute. We have the option of abusing our Rights, not just exercising. For example, yes, I DO have the Right to yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater. However, I will be punished for that abuse of my Right, as it would probably cause harm to others. In otther words, I have the Right to do whatever the hell I want to do, as long as it doesn't intrude on the Rights of others. My owning a gun doesn't hurt anyone, unless I ABUSE that Right.

Indeed.

It was Sir William Blackstone who said in his famous "Commentaries on the English Common Law" that, [my close paraphrase] "The right to self defense is absolute...and the right to bear arms, an auxiliary to that right."

BTW, the Bill of Rights does not "give" or "grant" anyone any rights. Those rights pre-existed that document, and pre-existed the Constitution and the Articles of Confederation and the Magna Carta.

The only thing the Bill of Rights did was list a few rights. The 9th and 10th amendment shows that there are many more.

Lastly, if the 2A was repealed, would they then have to repeal the 9A as well? All of our rights reside there as well.
