What spare parts for a Rem 870P should I keep on hand?

Nothing

You wont need anything for spare parts unless you are really beating the crap out off your gun. It's a rock hard gun. I have a few thousand rounds through my 870 and there has been nothing wrong, but I do take care of it. Just my experience.

What are you doing with you gun anyway?

A buddy of mine was an armorer for a large police department.
He used to joke that his 870 spare parts would "Fit into a shoe box, with enough room left over for a burger and fries".

With that said, it couldn't hurt to keep spare:
Extractor, extractor spring, and plunger.
Firing pin and spring.

Off hand I can't think of anything else that might break, that's user replaceable.

The reason about 95% of all American law enforcement use the 870 is, they just don't break very often, even when abused as only street cops can.

I'd spend my spare money on shells, not parts I'd likely never use.

The top sources of Remington parts are:
Brownell's http://www.brownells.com
Gun Parts Corporation http://www.e-gunparts.com

Used them for hunting for many years and never once had one mess up.Keep it cleaned and oiled and will last for ever :p

Instead of keeping firing pin, extractor, etc., I'd just pay $25 on ebay and get a complete bolt and carrier. :)

Trigger groups are about the same price.

It's a very modular gun. Toss old parts and replace with new. Return to shooting. :D

Reality is that you most likely won't need the parts, but if you do, they aren't expensive.
