What size shot in shotgun shells in 3-gun do you use?

Where you play, do you normally encounter stages where the shottie has to knockdown pepper poppers, or just paper/cardboard targets, and at what ranges?

I have no idea what peppers or cardboard your talking about but here in jersey i waterfowl with 3" size 5

That makes 2 of us : D
And I usualy take buzzbombs at 40 yd with an improved choke
 
A lot of ranges on which I've shot, say "no shot larger than 7 1/2", so that's what I use. I have shot matches where that didn't do the job unless the gun was choked tighter than cylinder. Pepper Poppers can be set so they will fall with a breath of wind, but I've seen some steel that was not adjustable, and at rest was leaning forward against a fixed stop at 15-20 degrees. Set out at fifteen yards, I couldn't drop them, when full-choked guns did.
 
I've used both #6 and #7 1/2 shot for IPSC and CAS three gun matches. Launch out of a Mossberg 590 for IPSC and a Remington (Bakai) side by side for the CAS. As I help set up for the matches I adjust the poppers on the light side.
