What size is front dovetail on Rock Island 1911

I have a Rock Island M1911A2 Tactical. The pistol has an adjustable target rear sight. But from the factory, they install a front fiber optic sight that is too short. With the rear sight adjusted down as far as it will go, the pistol still shoots about 5-6" high at 15 yards. I'd like to get a taller standard white dot front sight to install. Does anyone know what the dovetail spec are for Rock Island 1911's with dovetail front sights, or who they pattern the dovetail after (i.e. Springfield, Kimber, etc.)

I hope someone knows this answer.

BTW... Rock Island has provided a return shipping label, but I hate to have it gone 4-8 weeks for something that is a 10 minute fix I can do myself.

thanks!

I've only had one RIA on my bench, it had the military type fixed sights so I'm not sure what size front sight dovetail they use.

Most are .330x65, however the best thing to do is remove the front sight and measure it or contact RIA and ask them what size front sight they use.

front sight cut

think you will find them to be

.330''x 65% x .085'' deep.

unique.. not quite a Novak cut.
