What sights for Mauser sporter?

I'm building a Mauser sporter from a large-ring 98 action. I'm planning on using the XS Sight Systems scout scope mount (which installs over the barrel) for my scope. I also want to have iron sights on this rifle -- aperture sights to be precise. I am not familiar with what is out there these days that is strong and accurate and repeateable windage and elevation adjustments.

Any suggestions? Anyone know how high the sights need to be to clear the scope mount?

Scorch, have you ever seen a Mauser with original peep sights? I'm asking because peep sights are a US thing, even my pre-WWI commercial Mausers have either folding leaf rear sights and/or scope mounts.

Is the Williams rear sight better than the Lyman? Would I be able to use the Williams firesight (red tube) with the Williams rear sight (height-wise would they match up?). Will the WIlliams clear the XS scout scope mount (with scope removed of course)?

The Lyman sight is a better sight, but costs more. A lot of people like less expensive.

Scorch, have you ever seen a Mauser with original peep sights?

Yes, 22LR, not centerfire.
