What should I do?

I have a "franken'rinco" SKS. None of the numbers match and I can't find/get a rear ferel(sp) (the metal piece that attachs to the rear of the wood on the gas port). All I can really do is buy another Norinco that isn't in good shape and use the handguard on the one that I have now (but they aren't as cheap as yugos and the yugo handguard won't work).

So, should I keep it for a parts gun? Just break it down and if I ever need a trigger group, barrel, furniture, etc.. use that? Or should I sell it and hope that another can find the parts to make her work again?

All I need is that one piece and she will fire again. Without it, the handguard moves to the extent that I'm not sure if the rod will operate the way it should or if it may bind.

I would keep it and find the part

Try going to a dealer who sells the rifle. If he buys many of the guns, he might have bought one that didn't come complete and he might have the part. Contact Tennesse gun parts, he may have the piece as well. A look through Shotun news may give you other names such as Sarco, Tapco and others that deal these guns that might have a source for the part. Good luck with it.

I'd try to find the part first too.
Have you tried the SKS Man?
Have you tried calling Red Star Arms?

Another option might be a whole new stock, one of the polymer types.

If you decide to sell it, it might be most profitable to part it out on ebay.

Keep looking - I remember seeing the whole gas upper - rod, tube, wood hand guard, and both metal ends in an assembly before. Can't remember where - sorry, but they're out there.

Thanks all.

The biggest reason for my frustration is due to everytime I see the part on the web parts areas (like SKS man, Sarco, etc..) they are out of stock when I call. Appearantly, these things sell quick.

I'll must likely keep it, may as well :).
