What rings (and base) for Tikka T3?

I came home with a Tikka T3 Lite this morning. I love the rifle but the included silver aluminum rings suck. I can't quite figure out the Tikka website with their Optilocks and does anyone melse manufacture rings for the Tikka grooved receiver or should I get a Weaver type base and go with Burris Signature rings? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've got Leupold STD rings and bases on my Tikka. I put Warne rings on my dads Tikka. They clamp right to the receiver with the front ring having a pin that sits in a small hole in the receiver. Talley makes a light weight ring and base combo(rings and bases made together) that alot of people like. And there's another brand that's popular it's the DNZ Gamereaper. I believe it's made of steel.

The factory rings work just fine after replacing he screws with better quality. Cost me $3 at the hardware store.

If I had to replace them it would be with either Talley Lightwerights, or DNZ. Those are the only 2 brands I'll use anymore.

I use the Optilock rings and bases on my heavy barrel .223 varminter. They seem good so far and they look good on the rifle.

I've used the Tikka rings on all my Tikka rifles and have never had a problem. Why do you say that they suck? Is it because of cosmetic appearance or construction?

I'd rather have steel rings instead of aluminum. They're silver which doesn't match the stainless steel barrel and they're rather guady looking compared to the streamline looks of the T3. I would have rather paid more for the rifle in total and had them supply the Optilock Ring Mounts instead of these "cheap" looking rings. They might work fine for some but they're not going to work on mine.

joining the discussion because some issues i recently had. my scope moved 1/4 inch through the rear ring and my front ring moved 1/4 inch as the scope moved. i have to admit that i do not know when this happened. i hunted over 30 days with it last year and shoot at least twice a week often in the high country but cannot remember banging it since mid nov. i checked zero of course at the time and it was fine. i will check again tomorrow to make sure i didnt knock it last thurs in the mountains. needless to say having noticed this i cannot let it be and will be getting some new mounts and using a more proven mounting system. i like the look of a qd system but worry it would catch on brush where i hunt in upstate ny and worry about only one screw per side in the DNZ system.

Scope Movement

I've got scope movement issues with my .270 Win. SS. I used locktite when I mounted the scope but I can see marks on the scope tube in front of the front rings indicating that the scope is either sliding forward or the ring is moving on thescope. Funny thing is there are no marks on the scope at the rear ring contact point. I shot through a couple of boxes and accuracy doesn't seem to be affected. I'll try to re-tighten the scope rings and mounts before junking them.

Normally I prefer 2 piece, but on the Tikka it doesn't matter since the top of the receiver is closed with just an ejection port on the right side. The DNZ mounts are 1 piece, but the rail is offset to the side to ease with loading and ejection anyway.

He made his decision 6 months ago and bought DNZ.

I put the Warnes on mine and I'm totally happy with them.

I've used the Tikka rings on all my Tikka rifles and have never had a problem. Why do you say that they suck? Is it because of cosmetic appearance or construction?

The rings themselves are a little cheesy, but not bad. I used mine for two seasons of hard use and didn't have a problem with them. The real problem with the Tikka OEM rings is the screws aren't hardend and the heads strip out easily.
